Justice Theodora Gaïtas (guy-EE-tas) is an Associate Justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court, appointed by Governor Tim Walz. She is running to retain her seat in 2026. Justice Gaïtas has dedicated her career to upholding the rule of law and ensuring equal justice for all Minnesotans. She believes that courts must be accessible, fair, independent, and nonpartisan.

Judicial Experience
Before joining Minnesota’s highest court, Justice Gaïtas served as both a district court (trial) judge and a judge on the Minnesota Court of Appeals. She is the only sitting justice with experience at all three levels of Minnesota courts.

Justice Gaïtas’s appointment to the bench followed a distinguished legal career that prepared her for the complexity of deciding the difficult cases that come before the Minnesota Supreme Court. She has decades of experience practicing before Minnesota state courts, spanning criminal and civil law, trial and appellate practice, and cases in both the metro area and greater Minnesota.
